Waldorf Education begins with the premise that childhood is made up of three distinct stages of roughly seven years each.
Each stage shapes the way children feel about and approach the world—intellectually, emotionally, physically, and spiritually—which, in turn, shapes the way they learn.
Young children from birth to age seven live primarily through their senses and learn best through imitation. We nurture each child’s flowering, providing a gentle, yet sensory-rich environment and play-based activities that encourage the young child to investigate the natural world, explore social relationships, and expand imaginative capacities. These activities support the foundations for intellectual, emotional, and physical development.
The focus of this education is the whole child “ the head, heart, and hands”.
Montessori is a method of education that is based on self-directed activity, hands-on learning, and collaborative play. In our classroom, the children make creative choices in their learning, while the environment offers age-appropriate activities to guide the process. Children work in groups and individually to discover and explore the knowledge of the world and to develop their maximum potential.
“Children are human beings to whom respect is due, superior to us by reason of their innocence and of the greater possibilities of their future… Let us treat them with all the kindness which we would wish to help to develop in them.” - Maria Montessori
Health & Safety
Everyone’s health and safety is our top priority here at Blossoming Friends. We encourage each individual family to do their part by following statements and county regulations in order to slow the spread. We will keep families informed about any changes that may happen regarding our community regulations. Working together as a community during this time needs to be a focus in your family. We will not exceed 8 children (1 being my own daughter), and families will be asked to be transparent about their gatherings.
Teachers will be wearing masks at all times. We encourage children to come with masks and use them to the extent of their own comfort level.
We will be implementing best practices for hygiene. Children will wash their hands upon entering the school, which is part of our normal routine, and throughout the day we will practice good hand washing routines. Shoes will be removed at the door, as a part of our routine. We ask you to maintain social distancing during drop-off and pick-up with other students and parents.
When to stay home
Only healthy children will be permitted at school during this time, and temperatures will be taken every morning upon arrival, If we have any concerns about a child's health, we will error on the side of caution and send the child home. Please have a plan in place for your child to be picked up quickly in case the need should arise.
We are asking parents who have had direct contact with anyone with COVID-19 in the last 2 weeks to not send your kids to school for a minimum of 2 weeks and provide paperwork from their pediatrician showing a negative result from a COVID-19 test.
